Gunmen have reportedly beheaded a 40-year-old woman identified as Mrs Oghale Lucky Napoleon while working on her farm at Owodokpokpo-Igbide, an Isoko clan located in the Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The scene of the incident which occurred last Thursday was said to be “a stone throw from Owodokpokpo Grammar School, Igbide.
It was gathered that her husband, Mr Napoleon, who was also attacked by the gunmen was only lucky to have escaped with bullet wounds.
The deceased woman, according to a Facebook page account posted by Umeh Needs Road, “went to the farm with her husband who escaped with bullet wounds, and she was brutally murdered and beheaded at Owodokpokpo-Igbide.”
The Facebook post read in part, “The local government chairman, state government, Commissioner of Police, SSS should unravel the killer of Mrs Oghale Lucky Napoleon, popularly called (Ine), and bring them to book.
“It is no longer news that Okpolo-Enhwe launched an unwarranted and most gruesome attack on innocent Igbide farmers on Thursday 23 December 2021. The Security operatives, government officials and IDU as well have all been notified of this attack.
“The aggression from Okpolo-Enhwe on Thursday 23rd December 2021 took everyone by surprise because in recent times there has been rapprochement of some sorts including marriages and social visits between both communities.
“On that fateful day, the warmongers from Okpolo-Enhwe went to our bushes and ambushed an innocent couple on their farm. While the husband escaped the onslaught by the whiskers with severe gun injuries, his wife, Mrs Lucky Napoleon fell to their bullets and was beheaded. This is most callous and heinous.
“It must be noted that just like all previous attacks from them, this was also unprovoked and took everyone by surprise because, as mentioned earlier, there have been visits between both communities. The sad incident took place just a stone throw from Owodokpokpo Grammar School, Igbide.
And to confirm their preparedness for war, just yesterday, 24th December 2021, from about 9.15pm through the wee hours of the night, they embarked on heavy shooting towards Igbide. Igbide chose not to respond.
“The community has remained calm amidst these acts of aggression and provocation. The security operatives who visited to have an on-the-spot assessment can attest to this fact.
“We wish to let the world know that Igbide remains resolute to the peace process. We passionately appeal to the security authorities to fish out those behind the gruesome murder and subject them to the full wrath of the law as doing so will deter others who revel in taking innocent lives while hiding under communal crisis. We pray for lasting peace to reign in our lands.”
The Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for confirmation of the incident as of the time of filing this report. (Sunday PUNCH)
