The National Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, will on July 27, 2015 hear the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate of Surulere Federal Constituency I of Lagos State, Mr. Tony Ashikodi, challenging the declaration of Dr. Olufemi Gbajabiamila of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the March 28, 2015 election.
Ashokodi had petitioned the tribunal through his counsel, Mr. Kalu Onuah, challenging the victory of Gbajabiamila, alleging irregularities during the election, which he said, breached the provisions of Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) approved guidelines for the polls.
At the resumed proceeding on Monday, Chairman of the three-man panel, Justice C.U Anwuka, who struck out all pending applications earlier filed by both the respondents, Gbajabiamila and INEC, as requested by their counsel, Mr. Dele Adeoti and C.N. Olaitan, subsequently adjourned the matter till July 27 for hearing of the substantive petition.
