A strange cow disease has broken out in Enugu-Ezike, Igbo Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State resulting in deaths of many cows.
Only last week, there was an outbreak of yellow fever in some vilages in the community, which has spread to other nearby local governments.
However, the Enugu State Government had reportedly embarked on immunisation of people in and around the affected communities to stem the tide of the deadly disease, which had claimed over 67 lives.
It was not ascertained whether there was a nexus beteeen the strange cow disease and the yellow fever outbreak.
The outbreak of the ciw disease was confirmed ned by Igbo Eze North Local Government.
A statement by Nze Williams Ejikeme Nwodo, media aide to the chairman of the local government, announced the development and warned ‘general public against buying and eating beef for now.
The statement reads, “There is strange and misterious(sic) death of COWS this morning in Enugu-Ezike,Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu.
” The general public is therefore,advised to desist from buying and eating beef any moment from now.No body knows the root cause of the mysterious death of such animals and the best way to be safe is to avoid eating or buying beef in the open markets.”
