A suspected stowaway has died in the undercarriage compartment of an Arik Air aircraft.
A few years ago a similar involving thesame airline occured when boy who had wanted to stowaway from Benin, capital of Edo State was discovered when the plane landed in Lagos.
The body of the deceased was evacuated by the men of the Airport Police Command on Saturday, according to a statement by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria.
According to the statement, the body was discovered in an Arik airbus A345, with registration number: CS-TFX, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The plane was scheduled to leave for the United States of America before the discovery was made. Arik Air plies the New York route in the US. The corpse, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, had been deposited at an undisclosed mortuary, following due diligence by the relevant aviation and security agencies.
FAAN said it was reviewing footages of the CCTV system and airside security operations with a view to identifying the gaps and personnel failure, if any, in order to take remedial actions.
