President Muhammadu Buhari will address the nation Monday, April 27, 2020 at 8pm.
This is according to a statement by Mr Femi Adesina, special adviser to the president on media and publicity.
The President is expected to review the status of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country against the lockdown declared in Lagos, Ogun Stars and Abuja.
Despite the lockdown and other social distancing measures across the country the number of cases in Nigeria have risen steadily from about 200 a fortnight ago to 1;273 as at Sunday.
Nigerians are divided in opinion on the need to sustain the lockdown in the face of growing hardship among the populace arising from the lockdown.
Besides, it has been observed that many Nigerians are already flouting the lockdown as they could no longer sustain themselves holed in in their different homes with no tangible help from government.
In the statement, the media aide urged all television, radio and other electronic media stations to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the broadcast.
There are way over a million positive cases of COVID-19 confirmed across the world, with thousands of deaths recorded in many countries.
