If you’re a lover of peanut butter on your morning toast, or simply out of the jar by the spoonful (no judgement here), then we have good news for you.
According to two new studies, a daily serving of nuts can help to keep the weight off, especially as we get older.
One study analysed the effects of eating nuts on long-term body weight in men and women in the U.S, while the second examined whether eating Brazil nuts could increases a sense of fullness and improve glucose and insulin responses.
The findings suggested that eating a daily serving of any type of nut was associated with less risk of weight gain, as was substituting one daily serving of nuts in place of some foods (such as red or processed meat).
Okay, we might be stretching the findings of the studies to suit ourselves just a little, but any excuse to eat more PB, and we’ll take it.
If you want to ensure you’re keeping things healthy, look for peanut butter with no added sugar, such as Whole Earth 3-Nut Butter.
We know what we’re having for breakfast tomorrow.
