Leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Oyigbo Local Government Area have declared their support for Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, leading PDP governorship aspirant in Rivers State.
Speaking on behalf of the leaders, Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Desmond Akawor said that the leaders, youths and women reached the decision after considering Barrister Wike’s contributions to the growth of the PDP.
Ambassador Akawor spoke during the visit of the governorship aspirant to Oyigbo as part of his sensitization tour of local councils to convince PDP members to vote him during the November 29th governorship primary.
He said after carefully examining all the other aspirants, it was obvious that the former Minister of State for Education has the best credentials to lead PDP to victory in 2015.
In his address, Rivers State PDP Governorship Aspirant, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike stated that he offered himself for service to address the developmental challenges facing the people of the state.
He said that the emancipation of the Rivers people is a collective effort, pointing out that he is appreciative of the support of Oyigbo PDP leaders for his aspiration.
According to him: “Come November 29th, all Oyigbo delegates should vote for me. From that point, we will go ahead and defeat the APC.
“My priority for Oyigbo LGA is to create access to this very important council. The condition of the only road leading to this council is deplorable. That will be my first commitment to Oyigbo people”.
The former Minister of State for Education assured the Oyigbo people that he would remain committed to the welfare of ordinary Rivers people.
The New Rivers Vision Office for Oyigbo was commissioned by Chief Ferdinand Anabaraba, while APC members defected to the PDP.
