Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the coming Edo State governorship election and Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, was attacked Wednesday by hoodlums at Ward 10, Apana, Uzairue, Etsako West Local Government Area.
The governor and his his campaign train were believed to have been ambushed and attacked by hoodlums stationed in the area, Daily Trust reports..
According to the report, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, is from the area.
The governor and his supporters were headed to Ward 10, Apana, Uzairue, when it was reported that thugs had invaded the campaign venue, attacking villagers and other supporters who had converged to receive the governor and his team.
It took the intervention of the security operatives attached to the governor to chase the thugs after a heady 5-minute gun duel.
However, the governor and his team were able to counter the attack and later continued on their campaigns.
