The National Vice Chairman, South-South Zone, of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Cairo Ojugbou, has said that Nigerians would be literally pleading for the return of his party to power by 2019.
Ojugbou believes that the crisis rocking the newly installed ruling party was an indication of a party ill- prepared to lead the people.
He spoke on Monday at the party’s zonal secretariat in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.
The vice-chairman expressed surprise at the blatant inability of the APC to enunciate a clear-cut ideology and manage the recent crisis engulfing it.
He said he was hopeful that the cases before the Rivers and Akwa Ibom tribunals would go his party’s way, adding that the party would not succumb to intimidations to make it lose elections it won clearly.
“Rivers and Akwa Ibom State tribunals are sitting in Abuja. No amount of intimidation will make the PDP lose the elections it won freely and fairly in these states. Any move to rig us out will be resisted,” he said.
He disclosed that the PDP has set up a committee led by the former Kaduna State Governor, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, The committee set up by the PDP on how to get back to power in 2019 led by former Governor of Kaduna State Senator Ahmed Makarfi was in Port Harcourt to receive memorandum.
Ojugbou reaffirmed the stance of his party on the appointment of Hajia Amina Zakari as the acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
He said that such an appointment will remain unacceptable to the PDP.
“We have said that the appointment of Amina is completely unacceptable to us. The example that ex-President (Goodluck) Jonathan gave should be followed. We know Amina is not apolitical,” he said.
