A FORMER deputy governor of Lagos State, Otunba Femi Pedro
has said the adoption of Modified Direct Primaries System,MDPS,
by the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the preferred way of
choosing its candidates in the upcoming 2015 elections, will ensure
the emergence of an acceptable party candidate in the
presidential election.
Pedro, in a statement, yesterday, said the MDPS would ensure that
the candidate with the most widespread grassroots support
emerged as APC’s flag-bearer.
According to him: “Typically, this period in the electoral calendar
usually throws up a mixture of controversy, disenchantment and
irresolvable internal conflicts, but we are extremely prepared this
time around.
“Our party has come this far because all its leaders agreed that
internal democracy must continue to prevail. Cynics initially
thought we won’t merge, but we did. We conducted an aggressive
membership registration drive with minimal hitches across the

“We are on course. We have lost a few members along the way,
but we have also gained valuable and committed members too. We
must continue to forge towards emancipating Nigerians from the
claws of the ruling PDP – a party that has severely ruined our
