President Goodluck Jonathan has been urged to re-contest for the post of president in general elections of 2015.
The National Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Professionals and Business Groups made the call in an interview in Abuja on Monday.
The National Co-ordinator of the group, Dr Arumeh Salihu said Jonathan had what it takes to take Nigeria to its rightful place at the global level.
He, therefore, called on all professionals and business groups or bodies, irrespective of their political and personal affiliations, to join hands with the President to ensure sustained internal democracy.
He added that the President had done well to achieve a New Nigeria and needed the support of every well-meaning Nigerian to achieve his transformation agenda.
Salihu commended the President for tackling insurgency and all forms of criminality in the country.
He urged Nigerians to support his effort by providing credible information that would ensure success in tackling insurgency.
Salihu also commended Jonathan for providing a level playing ground in the democratic process across the country and urged him to sustain the tempo.
He also lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission for the successes recorded in the Ekiti and Osun Governorship elections and urged it to enhance the standard.
The group also lauded the President for tactfully handling of the issue of Ebola Virus.
