The first son of Abia State Governor, Chinedu Orji, has declared that he has no aspiration to become the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly in 2015, and nothing can make him change his mind on the matter.
However, he said that he already has the nomination form to contest for a seat in the House of Assembly and the only obstacle that would affect his aspiration had been removed through divine providence.
Addressing stakeholders of Umuahia/Ikwuano Federal Constituency, he said that he did not aspire to be the Speaker of the House, when his father leaves office, to allow the new governor to do his job as well as protect his family name that some individuals have done a lot to tarnish.
According to him, “Nobody can appoint a Speaker for the incoming governor. The new governor must be allowed to run his show. So anybody claiming that I am contesting to be the Speaker is just missing the point. I have many reasons, which have compelled me to take my eyes off the post of the Speaker.
“I have been in this state for 16 years now. I have contributed my quota to the development of the state and I will continue to do so as long as God gives me the opportunity. But in 2015, I want to be closer to my family. I want my children to live normal lives as other children, to be free in all aspects. I need to have a change of scene, and being head of the legislature will not afford me that.”
