THE National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC) Otunba Gani Adams in conjunction with the Federation of Yoruba Communities in Spain launched the Oduduwa House Project in Spain on Saturday, September 6, 2014.
The event, which must have gladdened the spirit of Oduduwa whose house was being inaugurated in far away, Madrid also stoked the essence of Nigeria nationalism as the organisers ensured that all Nigerians associations and ethnic groups were not only represented but also participated fully at ensuring that the Oduduwa House Project inauguration was successful and accomplished
Apart from the impressive packaging of the event by the President, Federation of Yoruba in Madrid, which involved all others Yoruba associations in Valencia, Malaga, Murcia, Servilla, Galicia, Bilbao, Barcelona, Zaragosa and other regions.
Adams ensured the presence of all other Oodua Progressive Union Chapters in Europe through Akogun Banji Ojo, Europe Coordinator, Oodua Progressive Union, who mobilised members from all the European chapters.
The glamorous night was the apogee of a week-long activities packaged by Federation of Yoruba indigenes in Madrid, which include cultural promotion whereby each state displayed its unique cultural values via, dance, dressing, style, while at the Yoruba language sessions, the children were taught the basic manners and gestures of greetings in Yoruba race and racial interaction with other Nigerians in Spain.
The federation also paid a visit to the Nigerian House in Spain, where they were warmly received by Ambassador Bianca Onoh Ojukwu, Nigeria Ambassador to Spain, who gave them a red carpet reception with a promise that she would certainly be their guest, witness and participate actively in the launching of the first Oduduwa House in Spain.
The city of Madrid particularly the area called Mostroles, suburb of Madrid, was set aglow by Federation of Yoruba indigenes who donned their traditional wears gloriously walking the streets in groups to the prestigious venue of the event, Sala De J EGOS, which parades one of the best interior decor plus exquisite fixtures and fitting.
The inner decor of the hall was made more colourful and beautiful by Nigerians who decked in gorgeously designed traditional wears of the Yoruba, Edo, Igbo and Hausa who mingled together socially for the launching of the Oduduwa House.
