Nigerian security operatives on Thursday arrested a foreign woman suspected to be suffering from Ebola virus was at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The woman was intercepted by operatives when she disembarked from an Air Morok flight. She was said to have tested positive to some signs after the virus test was conducted on her by port health officials.
According Leadership, the nationality of the woman was not immediately established as there were conflicting reports over the nationality of the woman; with some saying she is from South Africa while others said Liberia.
Nigeria has been battling to contain the spread of Ebola virus in the country since a Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer, brought the virus into the country.
Although the no official was ready to speak officially on the woman’s arrest, an official of the airport was cited in a report to have confirmed the report.
He however elected not to be named as he was authorized to speak on the matter.
The Leadership reported that port health official could not be reached to confirm the story because they have been instructed not to speak on the issue unless there is a clearance from the minister of health in Abuja.
