Fire guts Owerri Main Market

Fire razed a section of Owerri Main Market, Imo State, Friday destroying goods worth millions of naira
The cause of the fire incident was not immediately known,even as some traders who spoke to newsmen suspect spark from electricity installations.
Early interventions by fire servicemen could not save the day as they had difficulty finding access to the market.
It was learnt that the area most affected by the inferno was the Shopping Plaza housing fashion and phones shops.
Other areas affected include the section housing dealers on eye glasses, phone accessories and tailoring materials.
Policemen and other security outfits had had barricaded access to the market, to forestall looters from gaining access.
Some traders were seen at the scene of the incident bewailing the tragedy that had befallen them.
They called on the state Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, to come to their aid to enable them restart lives again.
