Former Deputy Governor of Kano State under Mohammed Abubakar Rimi’s administration in the Second Republic, Alhaji Bibi Farouk, is dead.
Aged 90, Farouk died in Kano on Monday after a protracted illness.
His son, Dr Farouk Bibi Farouk, confirmed the death .
The Late Farouk was the Deputy Governor to late Gov. Rimi between 1979 and 1981 before he was removed from office by the then state House of Assembly.
The impeachment followed the rift between the faction of the defunct Peoples’ Redemption Party (PRP) loyal to late Aminu Kano known then as “Tabo” and the other faction led by Rimi identified as “Tsantsi”
The deceased is survived by four wives and 35 children.
His remains have since been buried according to Islamic rites in Kano.
Late Farouk was an indigene of Gezawa Local Government Area of the state.
He served as a sole administrator of the old Kano Municipal Council under the regime of the first Military Governor of Kano State, late Alhaji Audu Bako.
