Chelsea have been left sweating on the fitness of Diego Costa after the striker suffered a hamstring problem in training.
The £32million new signing has enjoyed a flying start to his Blues career, scoring in both wins against Burnley and Leicester.
However, the Spaniard pulled up in training on Wednesday with a hamstring complaint, which prompted fears he may be out of action for up to six weeks, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Chelsea are hoping further assessment will show only a minor problem, meaning Costa could be back in the side as early as this weekend for the trip to Everton.
However, should the injury prove to be serious, Jose Mourinho could be tempted to dip back into the market for another striker before Monday’s transfer deadline with only Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba as backups.
Radamel Falcao is a long-term target, while Porto’s Jackson Martinez would be another attractive – if expensive – option.Metro
