Pan – Yoruba youth organisation , Oodua Peoples ’ Congress
( OPC ) , has warned that the gains of the just concluded
National Conference would be lost except some crucial steps
were taken on the matter .
First among such steps , according to the group, is that the
conclusion must be subjected to a referendum .
Founder of the OPC , Fredrick Fasehun , stated this at the
weekend during the 20 th anniversary of the group, stressing
that the people are supreme always and that their sovereignty
supersedes the powers of any National Assembly .
He noted that resolutions from the Confab have to do with
even reforming and modifying the National Assembly .
“ Resolutions from the Confab have to do with even reforming
and modifying the National Assembly , and given the chance ,
sitting members will choose and pick only those provisions
favourable to their individual interests as opposed to national
interest , hence , the National Assembly has no right ratifying
or rubber stamping recommendations by the National
Conference .
