Jose Mourinho has signed a new four-year contract as Chelsea manager, according to a report in the Evening Standard.
The Portuguese coach will continue to collect £8.5 million a year at Stamford Bridge, according to the London Evening Standard with the deal expected to be made public before the start of the season.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was apparently keen to extend Mourinho’s contract after he led the club to their first Premier League title since 2010 last season and won the League Cup with a 2-0 final success against Tottenham Hotspur.
According to the paper, “The Blues always intended to conduct negotiations during the summer and were confident it would go smoothly.”
Mourinho returned to Chelsea for a second spell in the summer of 2013 after three years at Real Madrid, and reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, losing to Atletico Madrid, but ended his first season back at the club without a trophy.
Assistants Rui Faria and Silvinho Louro have also been handed new contracts. Mourinho returned to Chelsea’s training ground on Tuesday to begin work ahead of the pre-season tour of the US that begins on July 15.
Mr (Roman) Abramovich needs to be very calm,” said Mourinho in May. “I am in his hands. I want to stay, I don’t want to leave. I am not asking for a better contract. I am very, very calm. He doesn’t need to be worried, he has me. If he wants me to stay, I’m staying. When he wants me to leave, I leave. I know he wants me next season because I am working. A 10-year contract is not important.
OUR VIEW
Mourinho’s decision to remain at Chelsea is of little surprise. He continues to be adored by the club’s fans for his ability to bring success to his football teams. If you like substance over style then you cannot really argue with Mourinho’s ability. Chelsea may not always be easy on the eye, but they are mightily effective at achieving desired results. It is a train of thought that obviously appeals to the club’s owner Roman Abramovich after sifting through various coaches since the ‘Special One’ departed Stamford Bridge for the first time back in 2007. The pursuit of continued success in England and Europe is likely to gather pace in Mourinho’s third season at the helm.
