The police in Lagos have commenced manhunt for a commercial bus driver who allegedly stabbed a dispatch rider to death in Surulere.
The incident occurred on July 27 around 10am after the bus and motorcycle were involved in an accident along Funsho Williams Avenue, Surulere.
It was gathered that trouble started after the yet-to-be identified driver knocked down and injured the dispatch rider identified as Johnson.
An altercation was said to have ensued between them and the rider in the process, used his crash helmet to knock the driver on the head.
Angered by his bleeding head, the driver, it was learnt, ran to his vehicle and brought out two jack knives which he allegedly used to stab the rider on the back and neck.
He was said to have fled the scene as soon as he stabbed the rider while onlookers contacted the police who rushed the victim to the hospital but he was pronounced dead.
Confirming the incident, police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said efforts were on to arrest the fleeing driver and recover the vehicle.
He said the police were able to identify the company that owned the dispatch motorcycle with registration number KRD700QK and had contacted them, adding that that bike was taken to the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) for further action. (The Nation)
