Newly-elected presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari, has said he has only a balance of N1 million in his bank account.
The amount plus 150 cows and three houses, one each in Kaduna,Kano and Daura, are the major assets he can boast of, the retired general said.
These are contained in the assets declared on Saturday via his Facebook.
According to him, he is never comfortable without cows.
The Duara-born general, now politician, further disclosed that he never had a foreign account since he finished his courses in the USA, India and the UK.
He added that he never owned any property outside Nigeria.
According to Buhari: “I have at least one million naira in my bank, having paid N5.5 million to pick my form from my party.
“I have around 150 cattle because I am never comfortable without cows.
“I have a house each in Kaduna, Kano, and Daura which I borrowed money to build.
“I never had a foreign account since I finished my courses in the USA, India and the UK.
“I never owned any property outside Nigeria.
“Never.”
Buhari had while procuring his expression of intent and nomination forms said he had to approach the bank for a loan to for the purpose.
He said but for his bank manager who had confidence in him, he would have been unable to afford the form.
Buhari emerged the flag bearer of the APC on Thursday.
He defeated former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Sam Nda-Isaiah, the Publisher of the Leadership newspapers.
