THIS is the heartbreaking picture of a baby born with only one eye, in the middle of his forehead, and no nose.
The baby is believed to be suffering from the rare birth defect known as ‘cyclopia’, which takes its name from the mythical one-eyed creatures in Greek legend and literature.
According to reports from the Saudi Arabian news website slaati.com, doctors think the deformity could be the result of a combination of medicines taken by the mother during pregnancy or from exposure to radiation.
The mum, who is Egyptian, gave birth at a private hospital in the north-eastern town of El Senbellawein in Egypt.
Dr Ahmed Badruddin, who is supervising the baby’s condition at the hospital, said that the infant has a full head of hair, large ears and many other deformities on his body.
He said due to the infant’s condition, he is only expected to survive a few more days.
The tragic picture of the child was released by the family, who are receiving counselling.
