Members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Alimosho constituency have appealed to the leadership of the party in Lagos State, western Nigeria, to discourage any form of imposition of candidates on members in the 2015 elections.
They urged the party to create a level playing ground for all aspirants during the party’s forthcoming primaries.
The appeal was made at a forum organised by APC’s Lagos West Senatorial District for party members in Ayobo-Ipaja and Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Areas.
A member from Alimosho Local Government Area, Bashiru Akamo, said imposition of candidates on members could spell doom for the party in the 2015 elections.
“Our leaders, I beg you in the name of God, do not give room for imposition in the forthcoming elections. Let there be open and transparent primary elections for all aspirants. We do not pray for failure, but I must warn that imposition may spell doom for the party,” said Akamo, who claimed to be representing the party’s faithful in his constituency.
Another party member, who is from Abesan Estate, Mr. Saka Okanlawon, urged the state government to speed up its projects in the state so as to convince the electorate of the party’s dividends of democracy.

Earlier in his own contribution, the Supervisor for Works and Housing in Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA, Mr. Abiodun Agbaje, advised the state government to call officials of the Lagos State Transport Management Authority, LASTMA, and the Kick Against Indiscipline, KAI, to order in the discharge of their duties.
He alleged that some of the officials are secretly carrying out the agenda of the Peoples’ Democratic Party to smear the image of the party.
Agbaje also called on the party’s leadership in the state not to tamper with the unique internal system being used to pick candidates for general elections in Alimosho constituency of the state.
He said the party members should abide by the decision of the leadership in the area.
Responding, APC’s vice chairman (Lagos West), Chief Funsho Ologunde, said that he had taken note of the suggestions and promised that the party’s leadership would look into them.
