As controversy surrounding the alleged $9.3 million (about N150 billion) involving Bombardier Challenger 600 aircraft ranges on, the Christians and Muslims Youth Forum has absolved Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), of any involvement.
The forum urged Nigerians to await the National Assembly’s investigations before jumping to conclusion.
National President of the group, Yusuf Ibrahim, at a press briefing in Abuja said: “It is in line with this perspective that when the news of the $9.3b seized by the South African Authority broke, we took our time to investigate the matter, especially as it was linked to a respected gentleman in the person of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, President of Association of Nigeria (CAN).
“Our investigation revealed that the seized private jet undoubtedly belongs to Pastor Oritsajafor as a private business concern and that the said private jet was on a routine lease through his private company by a client who travelled with the jet to South Africa for his private business.”
The group therefore queried the authenticity of the CAN’s President’s involvement in the saga.
“Is it expected that Pastor Oritsajafor should have inspected the jet before it was used by the client?
“How would Pastor Oritsajafor have known that the luggage of the client contains such amount of money? Can Pastor Oritsajafor determine who his client should travel with when the jet is on lease?
“Accordingly, we want to call on all well-meaning Nigerians to exercise caution and patience and allow the National Assembly to conclusively conduct their investigation and provide Nigerians with the immediate and remote causes of the matter,” he stressed.
