Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has been reelected for another term in office by the people of Ondo State.
The governor who flied the flag of the All Progressives Congress has been declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, who declared Akeredolu winner on Sunday, after results from the 18 local government areas of the state were collated and declared.
INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, declared Akeredolu winner of the election, saying he had met all conditions required to be returned as governor-elect for the state.
Akeredolu defeated his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Eyitayo Jegede, in 12 of the state’s 18 Local Government Areas.
He polled 292,830 votes, while Jegede scored 195,791 votes.
The candidate of the Zenith Labour Party and incumbent Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, posted underwhelming performance in the election as he was defeated in his homestead despite the huge built around him.
