The dreaded Boko Haram terror group has accepted responsibility for the abduction of 333 students of the Government Science Secondary school, Katsina last Friday.
Leader of the terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau, said in a 4:30 audio message sent to daily Nigerian, on Tuesday morning, said his group abducted the schoolboys because Western education is against the tenets of Islam.
According to the message, “What happened in Katsina was done to promote Islam and discourage un-Islamic practices as Western education is not the type of education permitted by Allah and his Holy Prophet.
“They are also not teaching what Allah and his Holy Prophet commanded. They are rather destroying Islam. It may be subtle, but Allah the Lord of the skies and earths knows whatever is hidden. May Allah promote Islam. May we die as Muslims.
“In a nutshell, we are behind what happened in Katsina.”
Before now, all references as to those behind the kidnap wad made to bandits who are known to prevalent in the North West corridor of the country.
Bandits essentially kidnap for ransome and do not have the organisation and clearly defined religious agenda.
The Federal Government President Muhammadu Buhari has continued to claim that the Boko Haram insurgent group has been defeated even when they have continued to carry out deadily attacks across various states in the North.
