The Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) said on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti that
it would embark on aggressive public enlightenment and enforcement to
reduce road crashes in Ekiti.
The new State Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr Stanley Chinedum said that
the corps would educate motorists on the need to obey all traffic
regulations.
He said enlightenment is aimed at making roads safe for all and make
sure that vehicles function well, adding that all means would be put in
place to ensure accident-free Ember period.
He said the enlightenment campaign would be followed by strict
enforcement.
He promised to sustain and improve on the achievement of his predecessor
to ensure reduction of road accidents in the state.
“The FRSC will carry out road audit to identify accident-prone areas to
enable it to take proactive measures such as line patrol and use of road
cones to warn motorists of dangers ahead.”
The FRSC boss restated the commitment of the corps to making Nigerian
roads safe for all, and advised road users to always be patient and obey
traffic rules and regulations.
“It is our duties and responsibilities to always call on all road users
to be patient and careful on the road, especially during the ember
months.’’
