WITH barely seven months to the 2015 general elections, Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has assured party faithful that it would field its best at the polls, assuring that there will be no imposition of candidates.
State chairman of the party, Chief Dan Orbih, who gave the assurance, in Benin, while receiving Mr. Ehiogie West-Idahosa, who was at the party secretariat on Sapele Road to formally inform the leaders of his intention to contest the Edo South senatorial race under the PDP platform, said: “The PDP has resolved to send only its first 11 team to the contest and will keep at home its best scorers.
“We will throw the contest open to ensure that only the very best emerges. The issue of who represents the state at the National Assembly is not for ‘Alleluyah’ boys; people must show us reasons they want to represent us.”
He commended Idahosa for the quality of his analysing and delivery in the House of Representatives for 12 years, noting that with his pedigree he was capable of representing any parliament in the world.
Chief Orbih, while advising him to go about his campaign in a civilised manner, called on other political aspirants on the platform of the party to emulate Idahosa in their campaigns.
Earlier, Idahosa told the party leadership that he was vying for the Edo South senatorial seat to enable him offer qualitative representation to the zone and Edo State. He expressed gratitude to the PDP for the exposure it gave him and made him who he is today.
