The House of Representatives, yesterday, postponed the presentation of the report of its Ad-hoc Committee on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
This followed an application by the chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee, Ishaka Bawa, for a one-week extension.
The federal lawmakers granted Bawa’s request at yesterday’s House plenary as the House embarked on a five-week recess to allow members focus more on political activities in their various constituencies.
The presentation of the report had been slated for yesterday and put on notice in the order paper for subsequent consideration and possible adoption.
“Having gone through the report this morning, we want to passionately appeal to Nigerians to give us an additional one week to fine tune our work and come up with a comprehensive document that every body will be proud of,” Bawa appealed.
Yesterday made it exactly f42 days after the Speaker, House of Representatives, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal gave the Ishaka Bawa-led Adhoc Committee on the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) a 21-day ultimatum to submit a report.
