COMMISSSIONER for Works, Delta State, Funkekeme Solomon, has described the local government elections in the state as a statement of what should be expected in future elections.
He was reacting to the call by the All Progressives Congress (APC) calling for total cancellation of last Saturday’s council election in the state.
Funkekeme said it is normal for a loser to call for cancellation and complain, saying when losers win, they go to church for thanksgiving but once they lose, they resort to complain
Corroborating, a member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ndudi Elumelu, who spoke through his Senior Legislative Aide, Ogbueshi Pascal Onukwu, stated that the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in all the local government councils was a clear evidence that there was no opposition party in the state.
He observed that: “PDP won in all the elections and it showed that PDP is on ground and with this election, the party will only get stronger because it is a grassroots party.”
Elumelu, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Health, stated that Delta State is the home of PDP, saying in the nearest future, all Nigerians would see reasons to join the party.
“Remember that our National Chairman, Alhaji Mu’azu, said Delta is PDP, PDP is Delta and that was witnessed in the local government elections. Soon, Nigeria will be PDP because our President, Dr Jonathan, is doing a lot for the people,” the gubernatorial aspirant said.
The lawmaker thanked Deltans for their faith in the PDP and congratulated those who won in the elections, advising all Deltans to continue to work with the leadership of the party and remain united because “there is no alternative to the party, we should be strong in our support for President Jonathan
