A non-government organization, LUCINMA Women Development Centre, Akoka, Lagos in collaboration with Zenith Bank Plc, over the weekend, presented laptop computers to graduates of the centre at the end of a 16 weeks free training programme.
As the centre marks its 10th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the foundation, 15 of the 26 graduating students at the centre went home with brand new sets of laptops donated by the financial house.
At the ceremony that featured free health screening exercise for women in Akoka community, the Special guest of honour and keynote speaker, Dr. Goddy Okoruwe, Medical Director, Urbane Medical Group, Ogba, cautioned the women against consumption of the sweet liquid popularly called fruit juice.
Delivering the keynote address titled, “Managing Diabetes, High Cholesterol, High Blood Pressure, Preventing Heart Attack and Strokes and Understanding the Facts of Ebola”, the speaker said many of the fruit juices available in the market are dangerous and poisonous to the human system especially adults.
He suggested that consumption of clean portable water remains the only alternative liquid that is harmless for human consumption.
Speaking further, he described cholesterol as an important biochemical substance of the human body, saying that since the human body system produces enough, additional consumption is not necessary and could pose serious health hazards.
LUCINMA Chairperson, Madam Lucy Jonah appealed to well meaning Nigerians to continue to demonstrate love for the development of Nigerian women as mothers of the nation.
