President Muhammadu Buhari will be travelling to London on Monday (today) to seek further medical attention for ear infection, the presidency announced on Sunday.
According to a two paragraph statement on his facebook wall,
Femi Adesina, Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) to the President, said in a two-paragraph post on his Facebook wall that Buhari will take 10 days off and travel to London on Monday June 6th to rest.
The main opposition party, People’s Democratic Party, had about two weeks ago alerted the nation about the ear infection of the president. Last week the president abruptly dropped a scheduled visit to Rivers Rate for the launch of the much-celebrated Ogoni clean-up programme, which fuelled speculations including ill-health and the threat by Niger Delta Avengers to kill him if he ventured to the programme.
But what surprised many was that he continued to perform several state functions in Abuja that day, which sowed the doubts in the mind of many as to the truth about the speculated ill-health.
“During the holiday, he will see an E.N.T. specialist for a persistent ear infection. The President was examined by his Personal Physician and an E.N.T Specialist in Abuja and was treated. Both Nigerian doctors recommended further evaluation purely as a precaution,” Adesina explained in the statement.
