Manu Garba’s side have booked a place in next year’s African Youth Championship after walking over their South African opponent that were scared away by Ebola virus
Nigeria U-20 side have secured a ticket to participate in 2015 African Youth Championship billed to hold in Senegal.
The Flying Eagles walked over Lesotho on Saturday after the south African side failed to show up due to fear of deadly Ebola virus.
Meanwhile, coach of the Nigeria side Manu Garba has expressed his disappointment following the late minute pull out of their opponents.
“Congratulations Nigeria on this qualification,” said coach Manu Garba.
“We trained very hard in the last two months for this match and we would really have been a lot happier had we qualified for the AYC on the pitch and not in the boardroom.
“It was a bit of a disappointment that Lesotho failed to turn up, but there was nothing we could have done about that, he concluded.
With this development, Nigeria will now battle with seven other countries for a place in next year’s Fifa U-20 World Cup to be staged in New Zealand.
