All things being equal, the Nigerian Police has promised to be at their best for the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States on 21 November and 5 December 2015 respectively.
The assurance came from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Solomon Arase who says he will deploy additional personnel to the two states to ensure a hitch-free election.
The police leadership has also directed the deployment of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS) to complement the Safer Highway Patrol to ensure proper policing of the length and breadth of the nation’s highways.
A statement credited to Olabisi Kolawole, Force Public Relations Officer said the IGP while briefing members of the Police Management Team in his office, noted that these measures had become imperative to ensure proper monitoring of activities leading to a hitch-fee election.
“This is in addition to stepping up police visibility on our highways in the Yuletide season, and to systematically decapitate hoodlums taking advantage of the season to unleash terror on innocent Nigerians,” he said.
