The president of the Civil Right Congress of Nigeria, Comrade Shehu Sani, and a member of the House of Representatives, Barr Simon Yakubu Arabo have taken swipes at the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), for accusing President Goodluck Jonathan of not doing enough to end insurgency in the northern region.
Sani who reacted to the ACF’s accusation on the president, said it was high time the Northern Elders stopped the blame game and joined in the fight against insecurity.
According to Sani, “the ACF is attacking GEJ for not doing anything about the Chibok girls and the insurgency; if GEJ has done nothing what has the ACF done to help in addressing the issue apart from issuing statements.
“We must accept the fact that this problem affects the North the most and we all have a duty to contribute to solving it.
“The buck stops on the table of GEJ but the ACF by its claim of representing ‘the North’ has a moral responsibility to pay its bills before questioning the debt owed by others. For now, the insurgents continue to advance and hoist flags. When a herd of lions strays towards a village, inhabitants don’t just go knocking on the door of the king,” Sani said on his facebook page.
Also speaking to journalists, a House of Representative Member, Barr Simon Yakubu Arabo, questioned the wisdom of the northern leaders in apportioning blame while insecurity persists.
Arabo who represents Kauru federal constituency of Kaduna State said, “Boko Haram, is no longer a sect but a movement.
“The ACF is uncharitable to the federal government’s commitment to fighting Boko Haram. Terrorism is a new dimension to our national life. So, we need some new strategies to fight it.
“ACF should come together and support in this War instead of castigating the president. The ACF’s antagonist against the president is not helping the government’s commitment,” he added.
