Yobe State Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, has dismmissed insinuations that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) was absent from the party’s Yobe rally because of an alleged sour relationship between him and Buhari.
Gaidem said that the retired general was excused from having a political campaign in his state because of the insecurity of the area.
The governor, who spoke at a grand rally of the APC in Damaturu, said that reports making the round that he does not see eye-to-eye with the presidential candidate of his party were not true.
He said the insecurity of the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway was the reason Buhari was excused.
According to the governor, the fabrication of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that it was because of the sour relationship between him and Buhari was aimed at scoring political point..
He described the APC presidential candidate as a man proven integrity, insisting that “Buhari is a straight-forward person that Nigerians will benefit under his leadership,” calling on all Nigerians to come out en masse to ensure victory of the APC during the election next week.
The governor scored himself high on performance, saying that the massive crowd at the August 27 Stadium despite the insurgency was an indication that he had performed well to be reelected. He said during a renewed mandate, he will take Yobe to new height, lamenting that the insurgency has limited the developmental strides of the state.
