At least 70 bodies have been found scattered under a bridge in a Nigerian town recently re-taken from Boko Haram militants.
The partially mummified remains were uncovered by soldiers from Niger and Chad.
Many of those found scattered on the ground appeared to have had their throats slit. At least one body had been decapitated.
The apparent execution site was uncovered in the town of Damasak, which was seized by Boko Haram in November.
A strong smell of decomposition in many parts of the area suggests that more bodies could be found.
Boko Haram has killed thousands of people in a six-year insurgency aimed at creating an Islamic caliphate in northeast Nigeria.
