The Department of State Services on Wednesday restored the security details of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, which were withdrawn when he defected from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to All Progressives Congress.
The PDP said then that he should relinquish his position as the Speaker, since he left the party under which he was elected.
But the speaker refused on the ground that he was elected speaker by members of the House on the basis of his being a memeber of the House and not because of the party that gave him platform.
The case has been lingering in court ever since and the Speaker, who is the APC gubernatorial candidate for Sokoto State, has not had security details since then.
