The All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate, Maj.Gen Muhammadu Buhari(retd), has said he would not take retrogressive action against against leaders and former leaders accused of corruption.
Buhari said he would draw a line and would ensure that anybody involved in corruption after he assumes office will face the music.
The general, whose growing popularity is built on the perception that he would be tough on corruption, harped on this social malaise as he addressed thousands of his supporters who witnessed in a rally Kaduna state on Wednesday, as part of his wrap up campaign in the North West.
Buhari told the rally that his administration if he were elected would not condone stealing, while promising to allow the courts to complete the trial of past corrupt leaders facing trials in various court across the country.
He also said he would pardon those indicted of corruption between 1999 to the time of swearing-in, which appears to be a softening in tone over the perception being promoted by his supporters that he wouk throw both past and past to jail for corruption.
“I am going to draw a line, anybody who involves himself in corruption after I assume office will face the music,” he said.
The lanky katsina-born general called on all his supporters to not only to follow him for the clamour for change but also to get their Permanent Voter Cards and vote out the PDP.
He said another four years under PDP would make it 20 years of poverty, corruption, lack if power as well as several challenges militating against the development of the country.
“If you don’t want to continue to suffer, to be enslavd and reduced to mere paupers, then vote APC from the presidential through to even house of assembly candidates in the forthcoming elections,” he said.
“The stealing is continuing, bad leadership is continuing and it is a must that this must change. This is (why) I have provided myself as a sacrificial lamb for the change.
Buhari added that by the time, God’ willing, APC takes over government on May 29, “our schools and tertiary institutions would be properly funded.
He said his administration would provide good portable water, stable electricity supply and that those involved in small scale businesses would grow progressively as a result of stable power supply.
