The apex Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) youth wing has appealed to the general public to disregard what it described as a false alarm on Wednesday about the disappearance of controversial Catholic cleric, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, saying that it was meant to draw public attention.
Addressing journalists in Enugu later in the day, OYC National President, Comrade Igboayaka Igboayaka, alleged that “the false information came from Rochas Okorocha’s faction of Ohanaeze led by Chidi Ibe who is using one Mr. Okwu Nnabuike as youth president of Ohanaeze.”
Igboayaka noted that Fr. Mbaka is in Enugu, healthy and sound and doing his normal business, describing the false information as very mischievous.
“It’s regrettable that Mr. Okwu Nnabuike allowed himself to be used by politicians, it is because of Fr. Mbaka criticism to Buhari’s government that led Rochas faction of Ohanaeze to spread news on Fr. Mbaka’s missing, obviously they’re up to something, probably they maybe planning to kidnap Fr. Mbaka and they will turn back to allege Buhari’s government,” Igboayaka stated.
He cautioned impersonators using the pseudo name ‘Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide’ to raise false alarms to desist from such.
“Ohanaeze Youth Council(OYC) wish to alert Ndigbo in particular and the general public at large to be wary of the antics and shenanigans of Mr. Chidi Ibe, Mr. Okwu Nnnabuike and cohorts whom are hugely funded by Rochas Okorocha and other political enemies of Ndigbo to pursue an ulterior agenda and mischievous objectives against the overall interest of Ndigbo.
“Therefore, the Ohanaeze Youth Council (OYC) wishes to state categorically that the press statement published by various, social media issued by Okwu Nnabuike with the name Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide stating the missing of Fr. Mbaka is a political scam,” Igboayaka said.
