Schools in Lagos State will once again open its doors for the students as from August 3, 2020, the state’s government has announced.
Schools in the state have been closed since March 29 when Lagos government announced lockdown of the state following the breakout of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Governor of the state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the reopening g date during a new briefing at news briefing at the Lagos State House in Marina.
However, not all students would be reopening.
Just as earlier announced on Monday by the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, only students of Senior Secondary 3 and TEC3 are to resume on August 3, 2020.
This was clarified in a series of tweets by Sanwo-Olu’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, on his Twitter handle on Friday.
According to the CPS, the date for Junior Secondary 3 reopening for revision classes and examinations will be announced in due course and it will be for only day schooling with no boarding activities.
This good news for schools, limited as it is, does not extend to places of worship which will remain closed in Lagos State until further notice.
Other businesses that will remain closed under the government’s directive are social and events centers, social clubs, bars, day and night clubs, cinemas, games arcades, beaches and beach fronts, gyms and spas.
However, The Rainbow investigation revealed that many street bars and restaurants have long reopened operations.
