At least 284 people have died from the novel coronavirus in Africa, according to records put out by the Africa Center for Disease Control (CDC) on Friday morning.
This figure represents a spike of about 3 per cent from 221 it stood as at Thursday morning.
According to a report by TodaynewsAfrica, about 561 people had fully recovered up from 469 people on Thursday morning.
The number of infections went from 6,213 on Thursday morning to 7,028 on Friday morning. The number of countries with infections in Africa went from 49 on Thursday to 50 on Friday.
The data were collated by Africa CDC as of 9 a.m. Friday, April 3, 2020, East African Time.
While Central Africa had 535 cases, 24 deaths, 20 recoveries, Eastern Africa had 602 cases, 13 deaths and 15 recoveries. Northern Africa had 3,030, cases, 200, deaths and 314 recoveries and Southern Africa had 1,558 cases, 10 deaths and 48 recoveries. Western Africa had 1,303 cases, 37 deaths and 164 recoveries.
