Succour is coming the way of over one million homes, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and critical national infrastructures with the plans by Zinox Technologies Group to link them with hybrid solar energy power solution that would reduce energy cost by, at least, 35 per cent and provide an alternative to the constant power outages experienced in Nigeria.
Engr Lekan Faola, head of energy solutions at Zinox Group, in a presentation at the unveiling of the i-Power Plus Solutions in Lagos last week said it comprises solar panels, inverters and batteries ranging from 1KVA – 20KVA targeting millions of homes, offices and critical national, state and individual infrastructures over the next 10 years.
While regretting that fluctuations in electricity supply has caused persistent poverty, poor economic growth, poor performance in education, noise and air pollution, he said for Nigeria to achieve its ambition of being among the top 20 economies in the world, it must have a stable electricity supply. Nigeria’s electricity supply currently fluctuates between 4,000 to 4,500 megawatts.
“I-Power Plus is a hybrid pure sine wave inverter system with an in-built technology that connects both the solar system and utility electricity. We have already installed in 1,761 institutions nationwide including one of the largest and most stylish residential homes in Ikoyi and are presently deploying more.
“Though we have deployed a lot but in the last 18 months, we have worked strategically with leading power solutions partners in Germany and Asia to perfect these products that provide enough power that runs homes, offices 24 hours a day. This is a compact solution that powers a home independently with its solar panels or interfaces with utility electricity and seamlessly resolves the common power interruptions in Nigeria”, he said.
With electricity in the hands of the private sector, it is speculated that Nigerians will experience a minimum of 50 per cent increase in their monthly bills from next year. This will be a disaster for most homes and SMEs according to Lekan. “Our solutions put efficient and cost effective power in your hands with little or no challenges and there are no bills to pay just because we live in the tropics.”
The chairman of Zinox Group, Mr Leo Stan Ekeh said the whole world is passing through exciting times and with Nigeria’s economy recently rebased as number one spot in Africa, Nigerians in the technology sector must increase the hunger to lead the continent.
