Gov. Muktar Yero of Kaduna State on Saturday inaugurated a 3.68Km road from off Sabongari/Samaru road to ‘Yankarfe in Sabongari Local Government Area constructed with over N458 million.
Speaking before inaugurating the road at ‘Yankarfe, Yero thanked the contractors for doing what he described a successful and good job.
He pledged to provide a lasting solution to the lingering heavy traffic that had become a daily problem around the Kwangila flyover.
“Now, anybody from Samaru and environs, who wants to go to Kaduna, Kano or Zaria-city does not need to go under Kwangila bridge rather he/she can follow the new road and connect to where he/she wants in five minutes.
“This road will surely keep the area alive, because a lot of activities will soon commence in the area while other activities that were there before will also improve.
“The essence of coming to commission the project here is to further demonstrate the willingness of PDP government to continue and complete all on-going projects.
“I want to dispel the rumours that we have abandoned the project,” Yero noted.
He cautioned contractors against abandoning their project sites and promised not to consider such contractors worthy of getting another contracts in the state.
Yero appealed to the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the road to improve their well being.
In his speech, the Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Bashir Aliyu-Zangon-Aya, said the contract was awarded to Messes CGC Nigeria Ltd in Sep. 2012 at a total cost of N458,381,900:31.
He described the road as an important one in view of the traffic congestion being experienced on Sabongari-Samaru route on daily basis.
“People usually spend more than one hour on traffic hold up especially at Kwangila flyover, but with the present development, such experiences will be the things of the past.
“The road passed through Kwarin Ayuba-Anguwan-Yusi-‘Yankarfe on Kaduna-Kano expressway,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Yero had earlier commissioned a road from Likoro Magada in Kudan Local Government to Soba Local Government Area. (NAN)
