The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Friday harped on the promise of the federal government to wipe out Boko Haram and all manners of terrorism in the country.
He spoke in Gombe State as he commiserated with victims of terrorist attack.
In his words,“As we mourn with the victims of terror, let it be known that we will not rest until this evil is defeated, God helping us. The life of any Nigerian is worth that resolve and determination. Although the terrorists started this, we as a people together will end it,”
He decried the incident as unfortunate but expressed confidence that the president will stamp out insurgency in the country.
The vice president also conveyed President Muhammadu Buhari’s message of commiseration to the victims .
“This morning when we paid the President Sallah homage, he asked me to come to Gombe to commiserate with the people, the Emir and governor of Gombe over the terrible incident that happened.
“He said I should let them know that we are with them; we heard about the death of men, women and children and we feel your pains.
“People should be rejoicing in celebration of Sallah but instead they are mourning; it is unfortunate,” he said.
Osinbajo said it was the duty of the government to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry.
“The business of government as Mr. President has said so often is the protection of lives and property and to give everybody a good opportunity” he concluded.
