Against rising agitations on the decision of the Peoples Democratic Party caucus to zone the governorship ticket to Abia South zone, the Senator representing Abia South District, Enyinnaya Abaraibe, has insisted that zoning has been respected in the politics of the state.
Abaraibe who was the former deputy governor of the state under former Governor Orji Uzor Kalu and currently aspiring for the governorship ticket of the PDP said in the past, party positions had been zoned and respected.
“About zoning, so many people say they don’t want zoning and I ask the people question, ‘why would you want zoning to Ukwa/Ngwa and you would not want zoning to Abia South; why would someone say I come from Abia Central and I am an Ngwa person let it be Ukwa/Ngwa but let it not be Abia South?’. Zoning is zoning, it is either you reject zoning entirely or not, you cannot do zoning on what suits you,” he stated.
Abaraibe disclosed that he had started consultation across the state over his nursed governorship ambition even before the PDP caucus took the decision to zone the ticket to Abia South.
