FORMER Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, has assured all aspirants on the platform of the party in Oyo State of a level-playing field in the primaries.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, Adeojo said: “I want to assure all aspirants that the party leadership will ensure that free and fair primaries are conducted for all categories of elective positions in the state.
“It is important to clarify this because of all sorts of misinformation going about. All aspirants should rest assured that it is only at the primaries that those who will fly the flag of the party will be decided.”
Alhaji Adeojo, however, sounded a note of warning to a governorship aspirant said to be parading himself as the anointed one.
Adeojo said: “I have noticed that one of the governorship aspirants is parading himself as overall leader of the party or governor-elect when he has not even gotten the ticket of the party. I advise the said aspirant to give due respect to the leaders of the party and the Oyo State PDP Elders’ Forum.”
The PDP leader noted that the aspirant had gone to the extent of asking House of Representatives aspirants to pay N100million to him, saying that was the only condition that would secure for them the party ticket.
