City concedes for first time this season
For the second-straight season, West Ham is flirting with the top of the table early in the season.
Victor Moses and Diafra Sakho netted in the first half, and Kevin De Bruyne brought City back within one before halftime with a strong low drive.
West Ham is now three points back of Man City for the top of the Premier League table.
West Ham almost went down early when Yaya Toure powered a header that Adrian pushed over the bar.
And then Holy Moses. The on-loan Chelsea man was given a lot of room to operate by Eliaquim Mangala and hit a low bounding shot past an outstretched Joe Hart.
Sergio Aguero missed a chance to equalize when he moved around a sliding Adrian but pushed his shot through traffic wide of the frame from 17 yards.
And Sakho netted off a scrum in the box to give the visitors a surprising 2-0 lead with an hour to play.
Adrian made a pair of tight saves on Aguero in the 40th minute, and sent the match to halftime 2-0.
Then De Bruyne calmly settled a pass from the left, setting up a curling low right-footed shot that beat a diving Adrian.
That set us up for a tense second half, as City endeavored to keep its unbeaten season in tact.
Yaya Toure twice missed on similar low drives from the right, the second coming closer to finding the far post.
Adrian made a stunning save of a Nicolas Otamendi header in the 86th minute.
