Urhobo Youth Movement, UYM, has warned against plots to unseat the acting Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Petroleum Resource, Effurun, Prof. Tunde Damisa.
Speaking through its National Chairman, Mr. Tennyson Oriunu, the group said it had allegedly uncovered a plot by some academic and non-academic staff of Yoruba extraction to use their position as members of the university’s Governing Council to misinform the council and the general public about the acting Vice Chancellor.
UYM warned that any attempt to remove Prof. Damisa and impose their anointed candidate will spell doom.
Oriunu said that because the acting VC rejected their planned four years tenure as against two years for internal member of Council by Senate, those involved were preparing a malicious petition to be submitted to the council at its next sitting.
