A throwback photo of Colombian singer Shakira with new Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has gone viral.
Soon after the Spanish soccer team announced that the former French great would be replacing the fired Rafa Benítez earlier this week, people began to dig up old photos of “Zizou,” as Zidane is affectionately known, and posting them on social media.
Among the pictures was one with Shakira taken at the Santiago Bernabeu in May 2005.
According to La Republica, the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer – who now has two kids with Barcelona’s Gerard Piqué – posed with Zidane after a Real Madrid derby against Atlético Madrid. She was in Madrid during a tour of Europe, and, as a long-time fan of the team, had stopped by to watch the game.
The singer, who was awarded a signed jersey with her name on the back, also took photos with other so-called “Galácticos” – as Real Madrid’s high-salaried stars of the early 2000s such as David Beckham, Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo were known.
The photo stirred social media comments wondering about Shakira’s loyalty to Piqué’s team’s archenemy. The couple has been together for more than 5 years.
